Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX (HabitatMCTX) is a non-profit organization serving low-income individuals and families in Montgomery County, TX by providing affordable housing that is safe and economically sustainable. Serving the community since 1989, HabitatMCTX relies solely on the generosity and commitment of individuals, businesses, churches, schools, and various other organizations. Even though HabitatMCTX is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, it is 100% self-funded.
History of Habitat Homes and Cedar Creek
Like many Habitat affiliates, Habitat homes were initially built on infill lots scattered throughout the county. This made it hard to create a sense of community for the family partners since they did not live near the people they met through the program. After receiving donated land in Conroe, all of that changed. HabitatMCTX was able to establish Cedar Creek, a neighborhood made up of all Habitat families, and the subdivision in which we are currently building. When complete, Cedar Creek will have over 100 homes within its 4 phases (sections). Currently, family partners actually work on homes just next door to what will become their own. The sense of community that is created by this is something that does not exist even in the nicest of neighborhoods and is truly exceptional.
The Volunteer Experience
You will find some of the best people around volunteering with HabitatMCTX. These volunteers invest emotionally, spiritually, physically, and financially in the mission of HabitatMCTX. In return, they experience a community that is becoming stronger with each generation. Seeing a family cross the threshold into a new home and subsequently a new life is one of the most powerful things you can witness. The volunteers that work in Cedar Creek get to see these families as they grow year over year.

Montgomery County, Texas, is one of the largest counties in the nation and is growing steadily. With that growth comes the increasing need for families of limited means to have affordable, safe homes in which to dwell. Thankfully, giving to local charities is something the residents of Montgomery County do best! The gracious gifts of time, money, resources, and expertise have allowed HabitatMCTX to continually increase its impact on the community. Because of the homeownership and home repair programs, more families are helped each year.
Partnering with HabitatMCTX shows commitment to the long-term success of our community as well as a desire to help those who are less fortunate. Serving all of Montgomery County is a large task because it includes Conroe, The Woodlands, Montgomery, Magnolia, New Caney, Cut and Shoot, Grangerland, Porter, Willis, Splendora, Kingwood, and parts of Humble and Spring, and everything in-between.
